In this blog I will explore the various forms of art and expression that I come into contact with in my sleepy little town. Special emphasis on typography, traditional art vs. contemporary art, change. Look around the archives for artist interviews, surveys, critiques, reviews and how-to’s. Zachary Calbert: Born and raised in the small foothill town of Sonora, CA comic books, cartoons, monsters and dinosaurs filled my life. I stayed up late reading comic books, playing video games and watching Monster Vision on TNT. When such entertainment was not avaliable I turned to drawing the creatures that I craved.
I studied graphic design at California State University, Long Beach where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art with emphasis on Graphic Design and was introduced to various forms of printmaking . I have chosen graphic design as my career and consider printmaking to be my art form. Screen printing and linoleum & wood relief printmaking fill my spare time between freelance and commissioned design. I have since moved back to my home town where I struggle to find a reason to drop anchor rather than travel North to cooler climates and a more accommodating social environment.
